Talisman Consolidated' crushed 385G tons for a return of bullion valued at i£17,088 10s. 9d. The costs for the month were 375., made up as follow :— Mine development, Bs. lid.; mining, 13s. 2d.; milling, ,13s. j general, Is. lid. The return is the-highest for three months, also exceeding that for February, 1908 (=£16,662 from 3638 tons). The total output from the mine to date is 13s. Id., and tho total dividends, .£273,750. ...
■■-•■ WATER-POWER REGULATIONS. V Hokitika, March 8. '"•'"'The 'hori. secretary >to the Aroha Syndicate wishes a correction made to the press telegram sent out on Friday night to the effect' that persistent refusal hns been made by the Mines Department to pass the- water-power regulations. He stated that the Government never refused, and only on March 4 a telegram was received from the Minister for Mines that the regulations were under consideration. The ,has not made any- complaint in the matter],■ and ; is' quite content to await the Government decision in the matter. The subject, is ,of special importance iu this district, where eeveral schemes affecting highly-promis-ing hydraulic mining developments are afoot. When power rights are. granted they will lead to a great forward movement in mining in Westland, and. it is hoped, for a return of tho prosperity which marked the early days of the West Coast. , MINING SHARES.
