WELLINGTON SWIMMING CLUB.
The Wellington Swimming Club got off the final distance (150 yards) for the President's Cup at Te Aro Baths last evening. Although there were sixteen starters, it was unanimously decided to get the race off in. one hoat, and, despite the big field, collisions were few. At the hundred yards it was anyone's race. Ward looked to havo a good chanco, but a collision with Ashford lost both swimmers several foet. Mawby was tho first to show out, and, at 125 yards, Ward and Ashford were close up, bub could not get on terms with Mawby, who won from Ward by about a yard, with Ashford close up third. Mawby swam a fine race, covoring the distance in lmin. 59sec. Tho points for tho cup count five for a first, three for a second, and one for a third. Ashford's third placo makes him the holder of the cup for the year, his total points amounting to seven, Ward being second with six.
