HOMING PIGEON SOCIETY.
On Wednesday last tho Wellington Homing Pigeon Society hold their first young bird raco this season from Dannerirke, when iH6 birds, representing 17 lofts/ woro dispatchocl. Tho birds oncountored a stiff head wind, and a close raco resulted, fourteen members "timing in" within five minutes of tho winner, which took 3} hours to traverse tho 102 miles. The best flights wcro as follow: — A. Clark's No. 436, velocity 871 yards per minute, 1; J. Elliott's No. 96, volooity P 64 yards per minute, 2; A. Croskery's No. 27, velocity 863 yards per minute, 3; W. Thornhill's No. 36, velocity 862-i yards per minute, 4; It. M'lntyro's No. 36, velocity BG2 yards per minute, 5; E. Griffifchs's No. 184, velocity 860 yards per minute, 6.
