Interviewed regarding high valuations, Sir Joseph Ward said ho would communicato with tho Department with a view to tho valuer being hoard iu his defence. Ho (Sir Joseph) had been considering for Bomo time whether thero should bo somo alteration in the system, aud ho proposed to go into tho question further in regard to valuations throughout tho country, with a view to ail improvement being brought about. Christchurch, March 4. At tho polo tournament to-dav, Christchurch No. 2 team, with a handicap of 15 goals, scored 23 goals against Tipapa No. 2 team, which, with a handicap ot 16 goals, scored 18 goals. The l'areora team, with a handicap of 8, scored 12 goals against Tipapa No. 1 team, which, with a handicap of 11, failed to score. Tho tournament is to bo continued to-morrow. Napier, March 4.
