ACTION.BY,THE AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT. (BI Tir.EOEiPH—rmsss association —COPYRIGHT ,J Melbourne, February 23. Mr. Loiren, the Victorian' Commercial Agent in the East, states that a largo syndicate exists in the' East for the purpose of transporting Chinese to Australia, and landings them in tho northern part of the Continent for transference to other parts of the Commonwealth. Tho Minister for External affairs (Hon. E. L. Bachelor) is taking steps to prevent an invasion.
