In the Supreme Court, George M'Gurk was sentenced 'to seven . years' , imprisonment for attempted murder of his brother-in-law atvDevonport. . Mr. Justice Edwards further remanded a young-man named Barker, convicted of passing counterfeit coins, givin'g him 'another chance of disclosing his'accomplices.v A Maori named Tu Pomars was sentenced .to. a'.year's imprisonment on a charge of burglary in the Gisborne district. Lincoln lurnor,. a young. man, was convicted A of stealing a large; quantity of bones on' three , occasions from the ' Queen Street Wnarf and obtaining 'money (by- selling the bones) by means of false: pretences.. He was "sentenced to'two years' imprisonment. :

At the Supreme Court to-day, John Morra was charged with having wounded one George Camels-,with intent to ■ disfigure and do grievous,bodily.harm.. The case arose out of a dispute on December 19, when accused was alleged to have stabbed Daniels. The jury returned a verdict■ of not: euilty. : Palmcrston North, February 15 At-.the'Supreme Court to-day, Mr. Justice Chapman..congratulated tho district on the absence of serious .crime, the calendar only containing cases inevitable in a, district such as this.. He was particularly pleased to note an entire absence of sexual crime, such as hav given great trouble in our Courts in somo district.in times past'. Atonetimo, he said it looked as. if .that'.class of offence had become most prevalent, and now not only here but in other places, in - the Dominion tho judgos have been able to congratulate' districts on the absenco of such crimes. Andrew (Jodbaz was charged with assaulting E. A. Coley. '.He was. found guilty of common assault, and will bo sentenced to-morrow. Herbert Berrgstrom was found guilty of theft of 120 sheep from Balfour Estate, : Pahiatua. A second cluirgo: against him of a similar nature will ,bo ■ heard to-morrow... , .. .
