President Roosevelt has appointed a Commission of eight experienced naval officers, charged with the following duties :— Firstly, to inquire into the fundamental principles of the organisation of the navy, jn order to ensure efficient preparations for times of war or of peaoo. Secondly, to consider recommendations concerning changes in ■tho present naval organisation, in order to accomplish this result.
