Christchurch, January 7.; . A meeting of R.. Arnst's ,supporters'was held 'to-day to consider what steps should be taken regarding the cabled-offers received, from Eng'land, asking the champion- to race Barry ,on ■the Thames for the world's sculling champion'-, ship. It was pointed out that 'according to the rules governing the world's champion sculling oontests, the holders of the title has the right to name the place where tho championship is to be rowed,; ; andj in view of this fact, it was decided to • dispatch a.', oablegrani., intimating that Arnst is. willing to race. Barry, and allow ',£2OO, for ..expenies, provided the contest takes 'place on a colonial river, about August next. If a favourable reply is received, a deposit will be at once lodged to bind the match.
