Dr Mason \ then referred to ridiculous misstatements published in various papers of men who sought notoriety at £he expense of all that should have been sacred and professional The address ,of the president (Mr Hoby) was a lengthy one. Ho laid stress on the fact that dental attention was receiving notice m all parts of the civilised world at present Li several important continental towns dental treatment >waß given to the children at municipal, expense, and tho sjstem had proved a great success He thought thit t, similar scheme should bo instituted m Now Zealand. The president also referred to, tho good work done for then emplojees by such larpe firms as Cadbury, Peak Frean, and Reckitt's, where Tegistercd dentists were employed to do tho whole of tho dental work Mr. Hoby elaborated a scheme which, he said, could, with a little careful management, be introduced into the Dominion at a very nominal cost, either to the State or to the local bodies, and which, if carried into effect, would be of incalculable benefit to those whom it mostly concerned, to say nothing of the consequent rise m tho barometer of public health. He concluded by quoting from an address delivered to the National Dental Association of Minneapolis' by its president, Dr. Peck, enjoining mem--1 bore to show zeal in adhering to what was best for the good of the profession and the community at largo. The address was heartily 'applauded. , Mr. T. Hunter, (Dnnedin) moved a vote of thanks to the president for his interesting and valuable addresi. Conference unanimously approved of, the vote.
