TARANAKI'S WONDERFUL PROGRESS.

At the banquet to Mr. Major at Kaponga last Friday evening, Mr. D. J. Hughes, in replying to the toast of "The Dairying Industry," quoted figures to show the growth of the industry in Taranaki. He gave the following figures relative to the value of tho products of a number of factories jn a very limited area in the province:—Riverdale: 18D4 £4688 lis. 2d„ 1908 £45,000 (estimated) ; Kaponga: 1898 £7800, 1908 £35,000 (estimated). The figures for Kaupokonui worc:l99S £5500 paid for milk, 1908 £75,000, 1898 {'output 80 tons butter, 6 tons chcese, 1903 : 166o tons cheese. To show the amount tho dairy companies paid in discount, Mr. Hughes mentioned that Ivaupokonui paid 2 por cent', or 7s, 6d. in the £100, or £375 for the season's output.
