A WOMAN'S VENGEANCE.
~ 1 In the famous-library of 'Wolfenbuttel, in Hesse, is an old Bible which is greatly treasured; but until recently it was not known why it'is so valued. The mystery has now been.solved, the "Quiver" says, by-tho.dis-covery of papers relating to it.:—.. _ . "It appears that in that passage, in Genesis where God tells Eve that Adam-, shall bo her master and shall rule oyer her the, German translation ■is '..Und or soli dein Herr sein.' ' Horr,' which means .master, does not occur in this l Bible, but instead there-appears the word ' Narr,' which means fool. The newlydiscovered . documents say that the error -was caused- by a quarrel between the printer and his ,\yife in the year 1580. The. wife . was vengeful, and in the silent watches of . the night she entered the room ivhero hor hus- v band had been setting typo and maliciously changed ' Horr " into' Narr.'" 1 Tho woman was afterwards imprisoned for blasphemy. Orders wore given that all the' copies of 'the edition should be destroyed. This was done, with tho exception of the ono copy now in tho Wolfenbuttel Library.
