PORT NICHOLSON ATHLETIC CLUB
. ANNUAL MEETING. The third annual, meeting of the Port Nicholson Amateur Athletic Club was held at the Y.M.C.A. Rooms, last evening,' Mr. W. H. Pollock presiding over a good attendance. Tho report and balance-sheet were adopted. The report stated that during the past season, members of the club'were very successful at the various, meetings held in and around tho city. It was very gratifying to note the successes of Messrs. Burge and M'Kay (two club members) at tho New Zealand championship meeting ; Burgo winning the mile and,M'Kay the long jump and tho all-round championship. At the, Australasian championship meeting, hold at Hobart; M'Kay won the pole vault with a jump of lift, ljin., a performance which has been officially recognised as a record for Australasia. In the provincial. championships, honours were gained by the following members: H. H. Dawson (220 yds.), A. E. Burge (one mile), TV. Gosling (half mile). Threo even- ' ing meetings were held, and , large number of entries and keen competition was witnessed. As these evening meetings tend to create a great amount of public interest in tho sport, the' committee recommend that they do persevered with. The very best thanks of the club are due to Messrs. TV. Ferguson, H. E. Nicholls, TV. H. l Pollock, J. F. Webber, and R. Fletcher for donations to the funds. Regret was expressed that the finances were not in a satisfactory condition. *■ Tho following officers were elected; Patron, Mr. TV. Fergusonpresident, Mr. E. E. Nicholls: vice-presidents, Messrs. R. Atkinson and TV. Coffoyj committee, Messrs; A. 0. Kittow, J TV Heenan; A. Donaldson, B. Turton, D. Casey, and TV. Reid; handicappers, Messrs. TV. H. Pollock and J. W. Heenan; auditor, Mr. B. L. Roberts. Tea new members were elected.
