WELLINGTON FARMERS' UNION.

The Wellington provincial executive of the Farmers' Union met 'at. Palmerston North yestorday (telegraphs our Manawatu correspondent). Mr. J. 6. Wilson presided. Reports received showed. that branches - had been formed at Carterton, Takapau, Pirinoa, and' Martinborough. A letter was received from the Taranaki Provincial Conference stating that they had analysed and made an abstract from Hansard concerning .the attitude of Taranaki members of Parliament toward all measures affecting the farming industry .in order to compare their voting with the pledges given at . the time of election. The delegates at the Conference thought it would be well if all the other provincial executives would inaugurate some similar check on their representatives in the House. It was decided, "Tr-iV this executive take steps to obtain similar information for the benefit 'of tho branches in-this .province." .. The president, reported on the action taken in reference to the Shearers' Accommodation Bill. Individual replies received showed that the writers wore unanimously in favour of giving evidence before the Labour Bills Committee on the mattor. A number of names of delegates from various portions of the district who would be ablo to givo 'evidence wero submitted, and it was decided to request them to do so if necessary. It was also resolved, "That this executive strongly protests against tho provisions of tho Shearers' Accommodation Bill as unnecessary, impracticable, and entailing an altogether unjustifiable expense upon the farming community, more especially as buildings have already been erected in compliance with tl>r> pii'sent'Act." It was resolved that Mr. nireb and the • chairman should draw up a' report for the next meeting.of the executive.
