At tlio last annual conference of the New Zealand Farmers'' Union, tho: question of forming Farmers' Union rifle clubs ; ( was discussed, and a sum of . money was subscribed with the objcct of'.providing: a,, shield. ' A scheme is now , being drawn up ' for sion 'to tho Defence Department, with:a view to establishing the proposed riflo clubs, and a Now Zealand firm has offered a. trophy valued at £20 for competition. Thpquestion .will doubtless be discussed at' the conference to-day, when the subject of, military training, already on the order paper, is reached.
