SIX CANDIDATES FOR ASHBURTON. (BT TELEGRAPH. —PRKB3 ASSOCIATION.) Ashburton, Juno 17. Mr. W. Nosworthy, sheep farmer, of Anama, to-day announced his candidature as' a straight out Oppositionist for'the Ashburton seat. This brings the total number of candidates announced to six, the other five being Messrs. F. R. Flatman (Government nominee), Henry Davis, Mayor of Ashburton (Liberal), J. D. Gobbe (Ashburton Labour League), W. S. Maslin, Geraldine (Oppositionist), and J. M. Twomey (Temuka), who enters the field' as a stem opponent of Mr. Flatman. Mr. David Jones, of Weedons, has also been approached, and is considering the question.

THE OROUA SEAT. (BT TELEGRAPH. —SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT.) Felldlng, June 17. Mr. S. W. Fitzherbert, who was a possible candidate in tho Liberal interest for the Oroua seat, has withdrawn his candidature in favour of the selected Liberal candidate; Mr. 0. 0. Pleasants. In a note on the Oroua seat, to-night's "Star" says the Liberal party in Fcilding is sanguine that it will have no vote splitting element whatever in the coming con--tost, llumour has it that Guthrie and Atkinson are still tho probable Opposition candidates, neither yet seeing his way to stand down for the other. 'THE WAIRAU SEAT. (bt telegraph—gpioial correspondents.) Masterton, June 14. It is reported here that Mr. It. M'Artney will contest the Wairau sent, which will be > rendered vacant by the retirement of the Hon. C. H. Mills. Mr. M'Artney, it is said, will receive Government support. WESTERN MAORI. Masterton, June 17. Te Heuheu Tukino,, rangatira, of the Ngatitu Wharetoa tribe, near Taupo, will be candidate for the Western Maori seat as a Govornment supporter.
