CONFERENCE AT FEILDING. The annupl conference of the Wellington Provincial Branch of tlio New Zealand Farmers' Union .will begin this morning at Feilding. • The chair will be occupied by tho president, Mr. J. C. Wilson, who is. also president of the Central Council. Mr. E. C. Jack, thq national secretary, of the Union, will also be present. Tho order paper, which has already, been reforred to in these columns, covers 1 very wido ground, and will doubt(pss provoke a lot of discussion. To-morrow evening the delegates are .to bo entertained. at. dinner ill the Oddfellows' Hall.by the joint invitation of the.branches of Feilding, Sanson, Rongotea, Halcombe, Kimbolton, Waituna, Rangiwahia,; and . Apiti. j . ' _ The Central Conference. j ■ The date of tho central conference for delegates. from all the provinces of the Dominion is not yet finally fixed, but it will probably be.held late in July. ' An announcement of the date may be cxpectcd in a few days hence. WHAT WILL THE CONFERENCE TALK - . ABOUT? Our . Feilding correspondent telegraphed last night' as follows:— The annual conference of delegates to the Wellington Provincial Council of the; Farmers' Union opens', in this town to-morrow; and it will sit again on Wednesday. There is enough business on the order-paper to provide ior a week's, session, but it is probable that the conference'will emulate the National Parliament and "rush y things •through," so as to closo down within the two days. Tho_ Provincial Conference has always;been an.interesting event, and every one has been marked by at least one lively debate upon a; question of the hour. The last two . conferences were devoted largely to, consideration-of the Land Bill, andi.the limitation of area question provided the material for tugs-of-war. This week's Conference will have two unusually important problems £o deal with,' one being an epochmaking ' policy- ' subject • for. the • Union— "Shall the Union-take sides in politics?"— and- the other, germane to that problem, " The' attitude toward ■ Socialism." :
