FELL FROM THEATRE GALLERY.

An extraordinary incident occurred at the Croydon Empire Theatro during a matinee performance on' April 8. While -walking down the side steps in the gallery to a vacant seat, Mrs. Stride tripped and toppled forward. She fell over the heads of eight rows of people, struck the gallery rail, turned a somersault, and descended head foremost into the pit, forty feet below. Amid a scone of great excitement attendants rushed forward, naturally fearing that the woman must have been killed outright, but to everyone's amazement she was conscious, and it was discovered that she had not a bono broken. Mrs. Stride, however, died from shock next day.
