Awahou' 'Ridingi—Tho usual, repairs , havo been effected on / the' Shannon-I'oxtonj El-king's-Motuiti roadn in tho shape, of spreading metal and breaking stones. Whirokino i Subdivision.—T, Cordive has completed tho i cleaning out'of tho Governmont drain along tho Whirokino Road.' I have 'engaged, W. I'. Wobsier to survey tlio diversion on Lean's Road to the Kopuae. ..,* . Tho'tramway report road:—Tho plate-lay-ing was delayed'for a considerable .time oWt ing to not having sufficient Spikes. to proceed with' the 'work'. Wo have since obtained a supply of spikes from tho Railway Department, and tlio lias been- comfileted to -tlio top of-tho incline.-.- Other work ias been done on tho incline in the way of packing and blinding the sand and- fixing up w.sak; placos towards Himatangi. Old rails could now i bo; gathered up, and the best put in to .replace a liumbor of bad rails between Carnarvon schoolhouso and Himatangi. Tho woo'den culvert, on Makowhai is falling in, and should be replaced fts soon as possible \yith .a three-foot concrete pipe. : Resolutions were passed endorsing tlio action of Councillors Masters and Benson in accepting the tendor for contract ijfo. 42, also endorsing the action of Councillor Kendull ill accepting the tender for contract No. '43, as mentioned by the Engineer. •' .'••It was decided ,to reply to tho Elorowhenua County Council's.,'lotter with reforonco to the River Board question, stating. that is-far; as tho settlers in the Manawatu County were concerned, a largo number were interested'in tho samo way as those; of Horowlienua.; A number of Manawatu County settlers ■up river required - liolp by. having the banks protected, while others only required bank protection..
