The girl's street costume and long dark coat naturally receivo the hardest wear and require the most-attention. If itho-skirt of a tailored suit is frequently' worn separately i c. become decidedly different in shade from its coat, and therefore-it'is wiso to slip' on somo other skirt oilreaching home, for if worn'about the house a cloth' suit soon, gets spotted and mussed, giving its wearer a slovenly appearance. The skirt may- readily bo freshened at home by first having it thoroughly brushed and then, if thp oioth ;be -dark coloured,-cleaning, it with an old stocking,, and,-if light' in'tinfc, with a piece of lintless cotton, dipped in benzine or .ammonia and water. When the spots aro eradicated lay the skirt wrong sido outward over a: petticoat board, wring cloth as tightly as possible, and, having spread it over the • j , 'ay the hot iron upon it until the dampened cloth; is perfectly dry. Somo tailors pound the .plaits down, but this demands considerable strength and is riot necessary :unless tho skirt is bhdly wrinkled. if. tho coat is,-padded, do not attempt to havejt pressed .by/ an amateur, for wherever «h°nfl i 1 ° n F ll b <>.
