Yesterday afternoon,'.at' Wesley Church, Taranaki Street,' Miss May. Tonks, fifth daughter of Mr. William Tonks,. Melrose,' -vas:married to Mr; Jlartin Williams, secondson, of Mr. Sanson Williams, of-Melrose.-Tho. bride; wore a dress of. white chiffon taffetas trimmed; with handsome, Maltese V laco, with; veil . and orange. blossoms, and she carried a . bouquet of. white roses, gloxinias,' and, asparagus ferns. She was attonded ,by three , bridesmaids, Miss Lena ,Tonk's ; . her. sister, .Miss" Violet.Lewis,. and Miss .Lily, Williaiiis (sister, of. the.; bridegroom),', who wore. pretty'- frocks of jshell-pink . taffetas with ,bands;'of ./brown, silk, ancl . brown ;hats-with large pink roses.. They carried bouquets-of pink gloxinias'arid autumn leaves. Mi-.. Bdrt Palliser;acted as i best mail,..and -Messrs. Muir and -Williams 'as groomsmoii. The llev. P. W. Fairclotigh per-, formed tho ceremony. After the wedding a, reception-was held at the homo of the bride's sister, Mrs., A.. M. Lewis, at, Oriental Bay, where a large.- party of friends -assembled.. Tho , bridal bouquets were supplied by Miss Murray, Willis,Streets On Saturday afternoon a bazaar in aid of St. Mary's Home, Karori, was held in Mrs. Bnstowis garden, at Karori. -This .was got up by: a number of school children, among whom were tho Misses Eila Bristow, Rita Moss, |Kathleen Clayton, Katie Mackenzie, Ida Siinpson, and Rene M'Lennan. Thero were stalls for fancy goods, flowers, and sweets.:; Afternoon tea was served on the verandah, and during the afternoon a band, played ;,in the garden. There were, many visitors, many having come all the way from town. ■ Among them were Mesdames Moss, M'Ewan, Holmwood, and Didsbury, andMisses Coates, Duncan, and Putnam. Several elder girls helped with the- tea^i ; and us. k' result -of the . afternoon's work a profit of £3? was made for the funds of St;. Mary's Homo.
