Mr.' 1 John Redmond, Lender ■of the Nationalist party, in a lengthy statement, Bays that the failure. to summon tho party and the Dircotory in order to endorse tho action of tho re-union conference was duo to . Mr. O'Brien's demand that they should be immediately summoned, which would bo inopportune, and not mnjiing for unity but for strifo. Tho failure'.was duo also to Mr. O'Brien's proposal to transfor tho arrangements for convening the Convention from the hands of tho Directory to thuso of n coimnitteo of- thrco, who are Mr. O'Brien's nominees. Previous advices show that Mr. Redmond arid Mr. O'Brien agreed to re-imito their forces on the basis that, "while they' will ceaselessly strive for Itoine Rulo, they will endeavour to securo practical amelioration from the English parties."Then Mr. O'Brien requested that this agreement be submitted to tho Irish National Convention. Sir. ltedmond was. unablo to agree to this course, on tho grouud that the right to convene; the Convention rests with the directory. Mr. O'Brien replied that thore' was no other means of giving practical effect to tho principles agreed -' . ~
