Presbyterian Bazaar. -The Girls'- Guild,, in connection with St. John's Church, is: holding a bazaar in aid of the funds of the Turakina Maori Girls' School, and tho building fund for the Mount Cook Sunday School. Tho bazaar, which was opened yesterday afternoon by Mr. J. G. W. Aitken, "M.P., is. the result of much energy and industry on tho part of the girls, and the various stalls aro displayed very artisticajly. In the centre of the .'schoolroom is a large stall for the sale of cut and growing flowers. This is covered with arches wreathed with lycopodium. Tho confectionery stall has a Japaneso appearance,' being decorated with pink plum- blossom, draped with pink and white; and surmounted with a large gay parasol. The fancy stall is "just as pretty, and is done in blue and whito. Tho produce stall has a white framework decorated with little sheaves and poppies. All tho afternoon nnd evening a brisk trade was done at the various stalls, and if business to-day is as good ' the girls should realise a substantial sum; The following aro in charge of the different departments:—Sweet stall, Misses Scott and Ralston; flower stall, Misses Gibl: and Allah; produce- stall, Misses Smith and Scott; plain needlework stall, Mesdanies Gibli and Wobstor and Miss M'Kenzie; fancy stall, Mrs. Kcrsley; post-cards, Miss Miller. The Mount Cook and "Willis Street Young Women's Bible Classes were in charjjo of the refreshment room, which was partitioned ofl from .the rest of the room by a trellis wort covered with greenery. ' The kitchen stall was under the care of the Misses Hopkirk, Various side shows, including waxworks Christy minstrels, Aunt Sally, etc.i were managed by members of the Mount Cool: and Willis Street Y.M.B.C's. There was ii short concertin the main hall in the evening, and competitions of different kinds wore held under the management of Miss G. Webster. All the entertainments will be repeated this ovening.' Mr. and, Mrs. Cecil Cox, from Masterton are at present visiting Wellington. Dr.' and Miss Ncdwill, of Christchurch left on Friday for England. Miss M. Laing-Meason is leaving by the VVarrim'oo to-day for Sydney en route foi Melbourne .Miss Laing-Meason intends t< go/on the stage, and her Wellington friendi will wish her all success. The Wellington College Governors hav< appointed Miss V. L. DM, daughter of tin Inspector of Post Offices, to the position o junior assistant at the Wellington Girls College. 1 Miss Dall, who was trained at th< xNormal Training Collego, Dunedin, and win has taught in several primary schools, is a) present on' the staff- of the Nelson Girls College. A sister of Miss Dall's is studying music at the Dunedin Convent, and' will pro bably go to England shortly to take singing lessons, as she has a very fine voice. At the St. John's bazaar yesterday even ing a presentation of a handsome silv.ci kettle and spirit-lamp, silver teaspoons and carvers was made to Sister Lilian bi Dr. Gibb on behalf of tho ciders, managers and Sunday School teachers of St. John's A short time ago the members' of tho St John's Girls'. Guild presented Sister Liliai with a handsome work-basket.
