Crawford, Admiral Dewey's secretary, committed suicido in tho Potomac River owing to losses caused by tho hanking crisis. A woman named Smith, who similarly lost £400,000, shot her husband and herself, 1 and set firo to tho houso, after saturating tho rooms with kerosene. Both are dead.
