THE WELLINGTON. CLOB., Tlio report to be presented, at. the annual meeting of the Wellington. Amateur, Swimming Club to-morrow jiight. states that'..the ..club started the season, with .152 members .in the Bonior division, 111 juniors; and 285 schoolboys, and ended with liiO seniors, 15 juniors', and 317 schoolboy members.' 'With; regard to the schoolboys' the committee- report that the competition for the Duthio Cup was as vigorous ns in tlio previous season, and resulted in the Clyde Quay School retaining tlio cup for another year, the Tltorndou Sohool being the runncrs-up. The cup Jins. only been in competition for two years, and has on each occasion been annexed by the Clyde Quay ijchool. The comuiittee congratulates the boys on their success. With regard to "tlio competition lor. the cup, it may. bo'mentioned that tho other schools were hopelessly outclassed ;by . the Clydo Quay boys. Tho Clyde Quay School may, perhaps, bo termed a " seasido " school, and- it would seem to follow that if all the other schools were, .lis near the harbour front as this school i 6 tl\e : swimming of their scholars would bo greatly improved. Air. T. Shields, ono of tho club's oldest and most enthusiastic supporters, gfcvß a great deal of time and attention to tlio.t smaller boys during the season, with the result that many of them have oeen enabled to learn . to- swim much sooner than they otherwise would. Mr. Shields devotes almost all his holiday to this useful work", and is deserving of tho best thanks of the boys and the club. Mr. Sonicrvillc was also a constant attendant at tlio .Boys' institute Baths during the season, for the purpose of teaching the youths of tliat.'institution , ;to swim. Tho club's .receipts,for. .the. sen sop. .totalled approximately .£25, •leaving a debit balance 'ot about JE6 on the si!As6ii's' :i op6rat , wns.
