STATE MINES' OUTPUT.
In the House of Representatives vcstcrdayi Mr. Hogg called attention to the" unsettled state .of the coal trade in Australia,-and asked whether something' further coiild not bo done to develop the btato coal output; ini ivu w ? ca ' an d for the benefit of the people. Tho Minister said: "I think the steps that arq being taken to 'further develop the State coal mines at.Point Elizabeth and Soddoiivilld will provide the ilccessafy increased production of ooal to moot requirements. I might point'out that considerablo expenditure will sl.i itly be incurred in extending the Grey-lr.Mf.li-Point Elizabeth Railway m order to provide transit from a portion of the area jhcld by the Crown that.has been proved to iv.ihim a largo supply of coal of the best niitliiy, and whan the seams in that locality luva been fully opened up I anticipate that tiii: output from the Point Elizabeth Mil* will be very largoly increased."
