HOSPITAL SUNDAY.
COMPETITION AMONG THE HOTELS, j Hospital Saturday and Sunday is to take place oil December 7 and 8, when all .Wellington will •be -asked to give: once .more. There are always any amount of calls on the pockets of;the' people in this : city, but none is usually responded to so heartily as the-call of the sick and niaimed on Hospital Day... Thero are people who object to baud performances oil' Sunday; and refrain from giving on that day as tho method of inducing subscriptions runs counter to their ideas about .the observanco of tho .Sabbath. On this occasion these people will haye an opportunity • of- giving on the Saturday through! the medium of an army of Wellington's nicest girls, who will mesmerise the nimble sljilling by a mere look, a pleading word, -and if- that -fails,- by- more- forcible means., - Ono of tlie best avonues of collection aro the liotols and clubs. - Last year quite a respectable sum was realised if roin boxes placed in conspicuous places-iij'such premises.
