THE LIBEL LAW.
For some years past it has been generally admitted that an amendment in the libel law in regard to what may bo called "chain" libol actions is urgently -needed. With a view to getting an amendment of the law, tho Hon. J. R. Sinclair and tho Hon. H. Feldwick to-day waited upon the Colonial Secretary and explained tho position to him. It was shown that in this matter Now Zealand is very much behind the Mother Country where one dofondant has the power to join all the others in the. case and have general damages allocated.' The Hon. Dr. Findlay recognised that this was n fair and proper thing to do, and promised to introduco legislation next session to give effect to the principle.
