A MISSIONARY MEETING.

The annual 'meeting of the. Presbyterian "Women's Missionary Union was held in St.. John's School Hall-yesterday, afternoon. .-. The members of. Assembly the ladies at this meeting, and the hall was well filled. Mr. Don,'the Moderator of the General Assembly, was in tho chair, and, ga-fe some interesting items, about the work done by. the native "Christians themselves in Uganda and China rfor the spread of the Gospel among their fellows;' Miss Cockin, who was formerly a missionary in Madagascar,'told something of that interesting; island. The Rbv. G. H. M'Ne'ur, a pioneer "missionary to the. Canton villages,:, next addressed the meeting, speaking most kindly of the help received from the P.W.M.U. of Now Zealand through, let-. . tors and gifts.-; Thero is much work in the mission .that orily women can do; therefore, the. training of )Bible-womcn is an important part .of the work.'- There are several schools for- girls/ and this is a most helpful work. Hospital work, and work among the lepers haa already, -brought forth fruit. Mrs. Milne,, from the' Ne w: Hebrides, told in a few words the. growth.of Christianity in tho New Hebrides,, especially on the island, of Ngu.ua, where .Rev. ,and Mrs. Millie have laboured for, thirty-eight years. During the afternoon there,,was .art interval for tea and informal conversation.
