(I'HOM OUIt SPF.OIAJ, COnRIiSrONDEKTS.)' Shearing at Messrs. G. and 11. Williams's To Parai Station, near Brancepoth, Waira-
rapa,,has been greatly hindered owing to an outbreak of influenza amongst the moil. A traveller who roams almost continuously over the length and breadth of the Wairarapa and Forty Mile Bush districts, says that the brightest in the whole valley is to bo found at Kokotau, four miles at the back of | Carterton. KoUotau lies on the banks of the Ruamahungo, with feet upon feet of rich river silt. Tlio May Hoods covered . acres of the place, and the result is seen to-day in tlio fresh spring growth, which is a' brighter, fresher, green than even other luxuriant fields. Kokotau can well do without its inundations, however, and; the farmers have raised the height of their stopbank another two feet. There is n great demand for small dairy farms in the Pahiatua district, but the 1 farmers aro so satisfied with their outputs ■ that they are unwilling to sell or lease unless at a high figure. There is quite a boom ' in town property in the "resting place of » the gods, and sections have been sold lately at advanced prices. ~ ,
