TRAMWAY FIGURES.

A FOUR-WEEKLY RETURN.

' A return for the tramway traffic for the four weeks ended October 13, with a comparison for the same period of. last year, was presented at n meeting of the Tramways Committee held yesterday. The rovemie from city traffic has increased from £6872 to £8277, aii increase of £1404, of which new lines (Kilbirnio) account for £1080 of the total increase. ", ' The revenue from all sources-has increased from £7150 to £9124, an iiicreaso of £1974. Tho working expenses amounted to £6277, as compared with £4566 last year, an increase of £1710. The principal increases in expenditure wero :—Wages: Motormcn and conductors; .£484; car cleaners and examiners, £56; cash and traffic offices, £69. Repairs and Maintenance: Cars, £249; power houso machinery, £9P; overhead* equipment, £102; pernianent-wiy, £145; printing and stationery, £82; telephone subscriptions, £37; and legal expenses, £40. The excess; oh revenue over working expenses was ,'22847, as against £2583 last year, an increase of £264. Traffic Returns. ••- " . A comparison of the traffic returns for tta last four weeks with last year showsthat tho total: number of passengers carried en tho city lines has'increased' from\ 1,240,990 .to 1,492,874, an increase of 251,884; of which new lines (Kilbirnie) account for 180,671 of the total increase; The car miles run jm all lines have increased from 135,094. to 156,756, an increase of 21,662.

Summary of Working. v • The total output' of the station in units was 350,588, an mcreaso of 93,993 units over last year. ,Tho power expenses per Unit wore .71d;,. as against .72d. last year. Tho revenue per car mile from city traffic was 13.4'1d.,' as ■compared 1 with 12'.21d.. last year. Th'o revenue from'all sources was 13.97 d. this year, as against 12.70 d. last year, ah increase of I.27d..per'.car'mile. The working expenses this year were 9.61 d. pe£ car mile, and last year B.lld.,'an increase of 1.5 d. per car, mile.
