Some interesting statistics relating to the Arbitration Court are containedvin a return to /the -.Legislative .Council yesterday on the motion'of the Hon'. J. T. Paul. The return covers the.period from March 31, 1904, to March 31, 1907 -
Cases Against Employers. In. 1904-5, there were 257. cases' brought against employers; these resulted in 203 ton-, victipris, and 44 dismissals.'-' Ten- eases • were withdrawn. .The;fines:totalled'£s74'.los. Ttie'Slauglitcrrtien's Sti'ike. fines imposed-upon' the. men concerned in tho slaughtermen's strike aihounted to £1325, of which £435 19s. was recovered. In the Northern Industrial, .District 46 men were prosecuted ioi; striking, .and all 'were fined. ; Those prosecuted m the- Wellington Industrial District;* numbered' -121, but thoy were dismissed owing to an informality, in tho agreement.
