FIRE BRICADES' BILL.
Delegates from'tho Firo Boards of 'Wellington. Auckland, Cliristinuron, Dunedin, and Palmerstdn North met in conference at the Town Hall yesterday morning to decido upon '.recommendations to make to the; Statutes Revision Committee of the House, in reference to amendments of the Fire Brigades Bill. The meeting was not opon. to the press. Auckland, October 8. At a meeting of the Aucklar.l City Council the following resolution was carried:—"That this Council strongly objects to the proposed amendment of section 31 of the Fire Brigades Act, 190(5, as set forth in tho Amendme.ip Bill, 1907, inasmuch as the Act uroviUed for the acquirement by the Board from the Council of fire brigade property on a-fa.i-businesslike basis, while the' Bill transfers all such property from the Council to the Board without any real"consideration therefor,' tho interest payable being simply at' the same rate which the Council has to pay on tho loan money raised for Firo Brigade purposes." It was also decided to forward tho resolution to tho Government and the local members of Parliament., and, if necessary, to request the Mayor (Mr.-. A. M. Myers) to proceed to Wellington to support the protest... ' -"
