New Plymouth, October S. Word was received in town to-day that soniothiug good had happened at Moturoa. Enquiries from Mr. 1). Horry, Chairman of Directors,. elicited the information that tho' casing had been got down past tho obstruction in the Birthday Well, and oil was showing freely at No. 2 bore. Water bad boon successfully shut off, and good quantities of oil wcro coming to tho surface. Only a small quantity of salt water was found in tho boro, and this was an excellent sign. At No. 3 they were boring in good hard country, and it was expected that the water would be cut oft at any time Oil is also showing freely here. Tho manager, Mr. Simpson, considered tho prospects were never brighter in tho whole history of tho developments of tho Taranaki oilfields.
