LADIES' BRANCH OF THE NAVY LEAGUE.
About twenty ladies attended the meeting of the Wcllingon Ladies' Branch of the Navy League in the Chamber of Commerce yesterday afternoon, Mrs. J. P. Firth presiding. On the motion of Mrs. Hislop, seconded by Mrs. Cecil Jones, it was resolvod that tho Ladies' Branch should ceaso to exist as a separate society, but should, if possible, amalgamate with the Navy Leaguo, to which hitherto only men have belonged. It was reported that Mr. Palmer's, appeal for litioks for tho boys of the Amokiira had met with immediate and most generous response, one iwiitlemnn having donated a hundred volmnos of a m.iiy-izine, and others having contributed mncflzinrs and bon!;s, Mr. Palmer still aslrs for wiitiibntions, iriiii.'h may be sent, to him at the Chamber of G'omxcrce.
