THE GIRL'S REALM GUILD.
Tho Girls Realm Guild, which was founded-on-the suggestion of the'-Bis-hoP '°f London, is only soven years old, but it would seem to meet a need of leisured girls, for in those few years branches .-.Have been-started ■ in all parts of tho world. Un Wellington the Guild is a3 yot represented by ono momber, Miss Effio Young, who joined three years ago, but who, until she is joined by New Zealand comrades, nan to belong to the Sydiioy centre. It. is in response to requests "from tho bydney seerotary that Miss Young is doing what she can to miike arrangements fir : tho approaching visit of Miss Jessie Ack'ermami, tho organising president' of the .order." In answer to a question as to. what had led her to join tho Guild, Miss Young said that she had read a good deal about tho Guild and its doings in tho " Girl's Realm Magazine*," and had simply sent Home; to tho assistant secretary the coupon from the magazine and tho smiling subscription, after which she was enrolled as 0110 of the 4000 members of tho Guild, and came into very, pleasant association with several of, lior follow members. The motto <Jf tho .Guild is: "What' is worth having , is, worth sharing,'', and its object',is to bring. girls of means and leisuro /into touch with girls less privileged than thomsclves. In England tho. girls have organised saise of work, gymkhanas, etc., in aid of hospital-funds or kindred, objccts, and they have , also , done what they >.'ould to; help in individual cases of need. In Australia the biggeGt, thing'done by the Guild has been tho raising of funds, to send Miss Eva : Champion, the young contralto, to England to complete her musical cduc&tion. Thia has greatly interested the girls in all tho centres,-and they expect Miss Champion to liavo a very successful career. The last number -of the " Girl's Realm" contains a lettor from a fif-tecn-ycar-o!d; girl at the Chatham Islands, who writes of tho loneliness of tho lifo thero. Miss -Young says that as a' result many of tho Guild girls are sure to writo to her and send her magazines and books. It is in such littlo ways, ns well as by bigger efforts, that the girls of tho Guild try to carry out their motto, anil it is to bo hoped that Miss Ackerjjiann's visit to Now Zealand will result in tho establishment of a branch of tho Guild hero. The Sydney branch of the Guild now;numbors 700, and AYollington may well' aim at establishing a branch of one.'or two hundred members. ,
