HOSPITAL COMMITTEE.

The above Committee met in the Townhall on Saturday evening. Present: Mr Jolly (chair), Marsh, Gnodger, Arndt, Logan, Starkey, Johnson, and Ta'dor. The Secretary reported that the subscriptions received by him to date amounted to £3OB Bs. Ir, was resolved to tender special thanks respectively to the Dramatic Club and j Jockey Club for their handsome subscriptions. Mr John Hislop, of Dunedin, offeied j a clock for the use of the Hospital by way of I a donation, and the oiler was ordered to be ! accepted with tlmnks. The matter of laying the foundation-stone ] then came up for discussion, and it was decided to fix the ceremony to take place on ! November 4. On tha motion of Mr Marsh, | seconded by Mr Starkey, it was agreed "That : the honour of laving the foundation-stone bo j awarded to Mr T. Logan, he being most enj titled thereto." A silver trowel for the pur- | pose of the ceremony was ordered to be proi cured from Mr 3isiop, Dunedin. The Mavor was requested to proclaim the I day a public holiday ; and a request was also : order, d ro be sent to the Cromwell Brass I Land, asking for the favour of their services | on the occasion. Tie Corporati n and the various Friendly ] Societies were ordered to t>3 asked to lend their presence and to tike part in the pro|c°ediusfs, to arrange winch a Committee was appointed, consisting of Messrs Jolly, Marsh, j Starkey, and La . kms.
