Thursday, January 9, 1873. (Before W. L. Simpson, Esq., 8.M.) 'breach op impounding ordinance. In accordance with adjournment, his Worship gave judgment in the case Scott v. Williams. The Bench found that the defendant, as poundkeeper, had improperly charged the amount stated in the complaint [namely, ten shillings Tier head, for trespassing on Mount Pisa Station], and had consequently committed a hreach of the Ordinance. Fined 55., and to pay costs of Court, 31s. Gd., and professional costs, 31s. Gd. CHARGE UNDER THE MEDICAL PRACTITIONERS' ACT. William J. Speedy was charged, on the information of Sergeant Oassels, with having committed a breach of the Medical Practitioners' Act, 1860. The Defendant, -when asked to plead, pointed •out that, the prosecution was not in conformity with the requirements of the law, inasmuch as the information had been laid before one magistrate whilst it was signed by another. He would ask the Bench to adjourn the case for a week, to enable him to produce his credentials, which were in the hands of a person in Dunedin who happened to be away from town when the documents were sent for. The Magistrate sustained the objection taken by defendant, and on that ground dismissed the case, and directed the issue of a fresh summons. BILLIAP.D LICENSE. Thomas Hudson's application was granted.
