WARDEN'S COURT.

Thursday, January 9. (Before W. Lawence Simpson, Esq., Judge and Warden.) < applications. \ Protection.— Certificates under section 5, reg. ' 22, were granted as follows :—II. Herbert and five others, sixty days for quartz claim No. I ( south of Caledonian, (to te3t the reef) ; T. Bain and five others, sixty days for quartz claim No. . 1 west of John Bull, (to test the reef) ; Ah Shoe and five others, ninety days for alluvial claim at Bahnockburn, (want of water). Extended Claims.— The following applications were granted : Martin Heaney and two others, Heaney's Gully, near Lowburn ; Ah Sing and three others, Commissioner's Creek, Nevis ; W. Cosgrove, two miles above Kawarau Gorge, east side of river ; Tip Fung and five others, below Nevis township ; Ah Cheiu and three others, Nevis Gorge. Tail Faces. Geo. Flood was granted permission to alter the course of his tail-race at Quartz Beef Point. Ah Chein, Nevis, granted ; Martin Heaney and two others, Heaney's Gully, granted ; Tip Fung, Nevis, granted. Ah Sing and three others' application was objected to by Taeng Pak, and was postponed for 14 days. Water Races. — Henry Vercoe and another, two sluice-heads from foot of Ten-mile creek, on east bank of Clutha: granted.—Richard Gee, two sluice-heads from Bannockburn : refused. — Tip Fung, three sluioe-heads from Nevis river : granted. Dams. —Martin Heaney and two others, Heaney's Gully : granted. —Bichard Gee, Bannockburn Creek : refused. On the application of S. S. Graver and John Wrightson, the Warden granted a certificate suspending the operation for three months of Sec. 11 Beg. 12, so far as regards the water-race held in names of applicants. In reference to the adjourned application of G. Coleman and another for a water-right at Bendigo, the Warden stated that he had been specially requested to postpone visiting Bendigo Gull}'- for a week or two, but intimated that due notice would be given to all parties interested of l the date of his visit. !
