FATAL COACH ACCIDENT. i 1) V NEDI N, Tuesday, 9 a.m. The celebrations in honour of the arrival |of the Governor and Lady Bowen on Saturj day passed off with great eclat. Large crowds lof people turned out, and the city wore its i gayest aspect. On the Luna reaching the jetty, the Mayor went on board and welcomed his Excellency and Lady Bowen to Dunedin ; and after furjtiior demonstrations of loyalty, the Governor replied in suitable terms to an address which : was presented to him. | The immense precession, accompanied by f several bands of music, then preceded the Vice-Regal party to Fern Hill, where the National Anthem was sung by 800 children. His Excellency opened the Horticultural i Society’s Summer Show yesterday. I A serious coach accident occurred at Green I Island *m Friday, wiueii has resulted in the death of the Rev. John Williams, of the I Baptist Church. Several other pa.ssenge.rs were on the coach at the time. Mr Vogel is on ViG to Australia, to attend the Intercolonial Conference.
