The Rev. R. L. Jacob, Vicar of Llanllngan, Montgomeryshire, was lately fined at the Newtown Police Court for drunkenness. While Mr Fisher, barrister, was addressing the jury for a brisoner on trial before the Supreme Court in Melbourne, the judge interrupted him, saying that he was talking “ confounded nonsense.” A barbarous outrage was committed a short time ago at Tavua, Fiji, by the natives. They opened the grave of a lately deceased European, smashed in the coffin, and scattered the bones broadcast over the land.
