CROMWELL JOCKEY CLUB.

A meeting of this Club was held on the even - ingof Friday, the 23rd inst., at the Kawarau Hotel. The following members of committee were present—viz., Messrs Preshaw (president), Dawkins (vice-president), Jolly (hon. treasurer), Dagg, Taylor, Wrightson, Harding, and Heron. Several other members of the Club were also in attendance. The minutes of the preceding meeting having been read and confirmed, the Committee proceeded to arrange the programme for the Spring Races to be hell on the 27th of next month. The total amount of stakes offered had been fixed by a form jr meeting at £63, an I it was decided to apportion that sum as follows : 1. Maiden Plate £lO 2. Spring Handicap 25 3. Selling Race 15 4. Handicap Trotting Race .. n 5. Hack Race 10 Messrs Cowan, Loughnan, Marsh, Taylor, Dagg, and Kidd were elected as stewards for the Spring Meeting ; Mr J. Harding, judge; Mr J. Hawkins, starter ; Mr 0. Pierce, clerk of the course ; and Messrs Cowan and Dagg, handicappers. Messrs Hags,', Fierce, and Kidd were appointed a committee to canvass for subscriptions. A list handed round the room during the meeting resulted in an addition of £l3 to the fuuds of the Club. It wis resolved that the privileges cnneetel with the Spring Meeting should be sold by auction at four p.m. on Thursday, the 19th September. Mr Jol'y proposed, and the Committee unanimously elected, the following gentlemen as members of the Club—viz., Messrs K. Pretsch, A. \V. Allanby, \V. Barnes, jtm., and .). C. Ballard. The usual compliment to the President closed the meeting.
