Last week we re-publ'shed an officii return showing the qiunt't'es of gold received in Duned'ii by Ebcorfc during t'.ie twelve months ended 3lst March IS7I, together with the totals o c the five pri.ll3ip.ll fields for the subsequent twelve months. We now give the detailed re-urns fox* the year ended 31st March last, and it wiH. be seen that the lab'e is so arranged as to show at a g'ance the relative importance of the various fields as regards gold production :

A fearful cyclone occurred at Madras on the Ist May. Kino European and eleven native vessels were wrecked. Thirteen Europeans and six natives were drowned. Only four ships were left in the Madras roadstead. The pier and a great deal of property was damaged. A public subscription was set on foot for the relief of the sufferers.
