The Anti-Impouncling League will hold a meeting on Thursday, —important business.
Mh Christoi'Heu Hickey, M.P.C., is now in Cromwell, having returned from
Dunedin, and rested from his labours as tho representative of this district in the Provincial Council, It appears to us, and to many of his constituents, that this is the proper time to call upon Mr Hickey to give au account of hia stewardship; and for the public to give a definite expression of their confidence in their representative, or tho contrary. The Municipal CbirithM of Cromwell and the Arrow Miners' / \jciation have both passed votes of thanoJ to Mr Hickey for special services : whSt is wanted now is an opportunity for reviewing Mr Hickey's general conduct in his capacity of representative. At this period of the history of the Kawarau district, the proceedings of our public men cannot be too closely examined : they have a great responsibility to discharge ; a sacred trust is confided to them. The electors will not be doing justice to themselves if they fail to keep tluir representative " up to the mark." Let a public meeting, therefore, be convened by the Mayor without delay, and let us know how our interests have fare 1, and are likely to fare, in the hands of Mr C. Hickey. •
