LATEST STRIKE NEWS.
[Special to Clutha Leader.] WELLINGTON', Monday, 7.30 p.m. The effect of the Australian action in boycotting New Zealand vessels would appear to be to delude strikers into the belief that they yet may win. Employers show no signs of yielding in any way, and the Trades Council meeting last night did no other business of importance, but adjourned to Sunday. Even the most sanguine of the council leaders cannot miggest any definite means by which a settlement niight be expedited. The Tahiti, which arrived to-day from 'Frisco, is expected to get away without trouble from the seamen, who have two months' wages to draw, but the hands will probably give notice on arrival at Sydney. The town is quite quiet, but specials from the country remain about 400 strong. No reduction will be made for a week.
The Strike Committee would appear to be running short of funds, as meal tickets are to be limited to two per day.
