PERSONAL.

Mr,]. R. Mitchell, Clydevale, has been elected chairman of the Clutha County Council for the eiißuing year. Mr Mitchell, who is one of the oldest members on the council, was chairman in the 1907-1908 term. Hon. .las. Allen arrived in Dunedin on private business on Saturday nigkt, and leaves again for Wellington this morning. The fact that Hon. J. A. Millar has intimated to his friends his intention to take up his permanent residence »t Renuiera, Auckland, may be accepted as a preliminary to the announcement that lie will not seek re-election in 1914. Star. Mr W. Hay, member for South Molyneux Riding in Clutha County Council, was on Friday again prevented from attending the meeting of the council on account of ill-health. We are pleased to report that he is progressing satisfactorily.
