TO THE EDITOR, Sir,—-Following is the reply to a letter I sunt to the Prime Minister in regard to a petition by the residents of this district urging that they be exempted from the necessity of cutting Canadian thistles.—l am, etc., H. Sir, —1 may say that the Department fully recognises the difficulty settlers have to contend with in cutting thistles on rough country, and the Inspectors of Noxious Weeds have instructions to exercise discretion in enforcing the provisions of the Noxious Weeds Act.
