DUNEDIN SHOW.

GOOD EXHIBITION OF STOCK. The Otago A. and P. Society's thirtyseventh annual summer show was opened at Tahuna Park on Wednesday morning. The grounds were' in splendid order. The weather throughout the day was fine, but as the evening approached light rain commenced to fall, and became heavier at night. An important change in the arrangements this year was that the sheep and the fat cattle were penned in tho southwest corner of the grounds, convenient to the headquarters offices, and handy to the entrance. This innovation saved a lot of tramping about, and was much appreciated by exhibitors and all concerned. An innovation was also made by the inclusion of competitions for dogs of alt breeds, this section of the show being under the control of local fanciers. Tho following is a comparative statement of tho entries for this year's show and that of last year:—

it)i2 191;; Sheep 234 202 Cattle 295 109 ' Horses .. ~ ;Ss!> 374 Pigs 41 32 j Dogs Competitions ~ 45 103 Totals .. ~ 871 988 A very noticeable feature in connection with the show was the marked falling-off on the first day in the number of country visitors to Dunedin. The only successful local exhibitor whom we notice figuring in the prizelist for the first day is Mr J). Murray, Clydevale, who scored the following awards in Shorthorn cattle (of which Mr 11. Steel, Clinton, was the judge): First and second, cow four years or over; , first and second, heifer three years; third, heifer two years; second, yearling heifer; first, three cows or heifers; first, cow and two of her progeny. Yesterday, the second day of the show, was wet and unpleasant, and rnili-' tated greatly against the attendance. Mr Thos. Lochhead (Te llouka) got Ist for buggy horse, Ist for tJ'Ap horse, .'(rd for roadster, and commended for hacknev four years or over.
