FARMERS' UNION.
=" - GREENFIELD BRANOH. Tin' Greenfield Fanners' Union held their monthly meeting in the Greenfield school on Saturday, 7th hist, when there was*a large number of members present. A letter was read from the secretary of the Biuicdin Hospital Board agreeing to request re a patient at Greenfield in the Buiiodin Hospital. The secretary also handed round application forms for immigration lads from Homo. The secretary stated that he had recrived a good deal of literature from the Government, such as reports of the Naval Defence, expenditure and receipts of the workings of the railways, and other reports, which ho handed to members to rend, study and criticise. The present strike was brought up and discussed at great length, and one member considered it was the duty of every farmer to join the Farmers' Union, for unity is strength. A motion was 'moved that the secretary write the executive council secretary a remit, and recommend strongly that an organiser be to enrol new members and canvass for Farmers' Union Insurance, which was seconded and carried. "It was resolved to hold the annual picnic'on Wednesday, January H, 1914, and a large committee was elected to carry out the duties of the day, the secretary to convene the first committee meeting, which is fo be held at an early date. It was moved that the next meeting of the Farmers' Union be held in 'the fine new school that has j*Bst been erected at Puke Ti, and that the meetings be held month about at the two schools, which was considered a very wise step to take.
