MATAU ROAD BOARD.
A special meeting of the Matau Road Board was held in the Schoolhouse Inch Clutha, on Wednesday evening, for the purpose of hearing report of members in reference to the protection of river banks.
There were present Messrs Ingles (Chairman), Lawson, Mosley, Robertson, Willocks, and Petrie.
The Chairman stated the object of the meeting, and laid before the Board a statement of damage done to the river bank in both subdivisions.
A general conversation ensued, in respect to the present position of both subdivisions financially.
Mr Robertson moved that 20 chains of river banking be done near Hislop's, North Molyneux.
The motion was seconded by Mr Petrie, and carried. The Chairman and Mr Petrie were appointed to carry out said work.
It was moved by Mr Mosley that a public meeting of ratepayers of the. Inch Clutha subdivision be called to consider the advisability of levying a special rate of one shilling in the pound in that subdivi-
sion.
The motion was seconded by Mr Willocks, and carried. .
The subject of separation was again brought forward, when it was resolved to memorialise the Government to have same carried into effect.
The Board then adjourned,
