(Press Agency.) Dunedin, May 30. At a meeting of the Harbour Board to-day the Engineer recommended that clause 12 of the contract deed between the Board and Mr Proudfoot should be enforced, aa tho latter had not furnished him with any information as to what steps he had taken to ensure the completion of the dredging contract in ita integrity. At the request of Mr Proudfoot, the consideration of the matter was postponed.

(Renter's Special.) London, May 27. The Australians have played a mate with the crack Marylebone Club, ancl inflicted a signal defeat. The scores were — Marylebone, first innings, 33 ; Australians, 41. In tho second innings the Marylebone Club only made 19, leaving an easy victory for Australia, who won by nine wickets. The visitors' bowling was very effective. Spofforth took 11 wickets for 20 runs, and Boyle 8 wickets for 17 runs. The attendance was very large, and the victoVs were heartily cheered. The Signatory Powers are unprepared with the details of the pending negotiations, but the prospects expected from the. Congress have materially improved. May 28. The metropolitan papers aro sanguine that the Peace Congress will meet on June 11. It is substantially confirmed that Prince Bismarck will preside. England will be represented by Lord Salisbury, Russia by Count Schouvaloff, and Austria by Count Andrassy. The naval preparations at Chatham have been relaxed. There has been sharp and continuous fighting in South Africa, but the British and Colonial forces have been generally successful. Lord John Russell is dead. Consols, 97 j. For the Queensland loan nearly two and a half millions were subscribed.
• Vienna, May 28. Andrassy says that even if the Congress does succeed in meeting, complications must be apprehended in consequence of the changes of frontiers and position of the Russian troops under Todleben.
• (Special to the Melbourne Argus.) London, May 27. Prince Bismarck has invited the Great Powers to attend the Conference, which is expected to meet at Berlin on June 11". The San Stefano Treaty is to be submitted to the consideration of Congress. It was officially stated hi Parliament that the prospects of peace have materially improved.
